Morgenstern (モージェンステルン Moojensuterun) is a former field reporter, who would go out in search of his own stories to write about for the papers in West Blue. He was close to receiving a promotion to work the Grand Line, but quit before he got it. After quitting, he joined the recently formed Dread Pirates as their chronicler. He is known as Book Worm as he is always seen reading a book.

Morgenstern is a tall, lanky man with black hair that is parted down the middle and a scar over his left eye. He wears a white dress shirt, black dress pants held up by black suspenders, and black dress shoes.

Kenbunshoku Haki: When Morgenstern was around 13 years old, he began living a life without any money, only having the clothes on his back, and a single book. After two years of reading that book over and over again, he began to try reading people instead. After a short while, he unknowingly gained the use of Kenbunshoku Haki. He would use it to read how peoples lives would unravel before it happened, which allowed him to survive by stealing food. He specializes in Kenbunshoku Haki, though there are still a few people on the pirate ship Revenge that surpass his skill.
Busoshoku Haki: Morgenstern learned how to use Busoshoku Haki from Roberts, while aboard the pirate ship Revenge.
